what is a good program for encrypting files on flash drives? preferably one that runs off the drive and doesn't have to be installed?
I've looked at; Kingston, Integral, Sandisk and many others and I can't find a USB flash drive that's encryption works with MAC. I've even looked on the MAC website. Does anyone know if such a thing exists?
I recently received a DiskGo 1.0 MB flash drive. It has several folders already on the drive entitled "Registration data" and "data encryption". I am only using the USB to transfer files and would like to delete the folders that came with the jump drive- they take up needed space! Is it okay to delete these files without losing use of the USB?
a password when plugged in and does not require administrator priveledges on the computer it's plugged into. Once you enter the password, you can work with it as if it was just another drive on the computer. I've tried Rohos and TrueCrypt. They both require a process of "mounting" the encrypted volume when you plug in the drive and they both have special procedures for editing files when you have to use the drive on computers on which you don't have admin priveledges. My wife uses this drive. I tried to teach her how to use the encryption sofware, but it's too complicated. So, I gave up and left it unencrypted, but there's some sensitive client data she needs to keep on there."
